About the Author

Henry Walton

Henry Walton was born in the Los Angeles California in the year 1939. It was between the dark years of the Great Depression and the Dark Years of Post Pearl Harbor. It could be said that he was born in the brief Light Between Dark Places.

In his life he has witnessed world war, post war economic expansion, population explosion, the birth of the atomic age, the civil rights movement, assassination of a President, American cities in flames of rebellion, inflation, rise in fuel prices, global warming, floods, tidal waves, wild fires, political assassination of Civil and Human Rights Advocates, the resignation of a president, the appointment of a President by the Supreme Court, a plethora of “little wars”, Korea, Viet-Nam, the fall of the Soviet Union, the Berlin Wall brought down, the Twin Towers destroyed, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Iraq, the collapse of the Housing Market, the melt down of the world economy with ongoing efforts to repair it, and the election of the first President with African American heritage.

The author has a work history of service. He was in the Army Corp of Engineers, worked for the US Postal Services, was an ambulance driver and attendant, a computer operator, Supervising Computer Operator, Senior Systems Aid, Union Business Agent, Director of Community and Political Affairs for SEIU Local 660, and currently works in a major federal program servicing children and families. Henry Walton has also been an Adjunct Professor for Springfield College, L.A. campus. He holds a B. S. and an M. S. in Human Services.

Life has not left him short of issues to be explored. He has two adult children, he also experienced the joy of being a foster parent, he grew up in South Central Los Angeles, lived through two Los Angeles Urban Rebellions, the O.J. Trail, earthquakes, and Police actions at Macarthur Park, Century City, Labor actions, marches and strikes, and he has been involved with organizing workers in Central America.

Henry Walton has displayed his Photographic work in three shows in recent months and has over the years exhibited at festivals, and galleries. Henry Walton is the host and producer of the weekly radio program Labor Review on KPFK Los Angeles, 90.7 FM. The Light Between Dark Places is his first book and is a collection of writings from various times in his life.
